Version 1.4.2 Released
Version 1.4.2 of iOS app, TapToCount-3W, is released on App Store. The following is the information about this update.
What's New
We are very pleased to announce that the new version of 1.4.2 is available. This update includes some new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Note editing has been further enhanced. The edit/view button in the top-right corner has been moved up outside of the text edit frame. This makes it is easier to edit and view notes, without blocking any text.
- There was screen jump up and down behaviour when editing tap item’s notes. This update prevents this jumping behaviour. When the note for an tap item is changed to edit mode, the screen will keep in smooth view.
- The map view of taps has been further enhanced. There are two more buttons to allow view annotation pins, or routes, or both.
- A new app setting of “Minimum user distance” is added so that in map view, when user’s location has been changed far away than this minimum distance, an annotation pin is added with a route connection. This makes it easy to view user’s location changes. Note that those user location changes only can be viewed in map view, and those changes will be gone if the map view is dismissed. This new feature can be extended to new features in coming updates.
- Fixed some bugs and potential crashes.
New Features in Map View
The map view provides visual view of taps on map. As described above, some new features in map view have been added to this update.
Annotation Pins and Connection Routes
Two new buttons on the bottom of tool bar provide ways of showing or not showing annotation pins, and connection routes between two consecutive taps. The following is an example of showing annotations and routes for a trip in Maui, Hawaii.
User Locations
Tap on user location button (1st button on the bottom left), user current location will be displayed on the map. If you keep this view active, and move around, you may see your location changes with annotation pins to indicate your past locations.
A new setting of "Minimum user distance" is added to the app settings. This setting can be found in iOS Settings|TapToCount-3W app. The following snapshots shows the default setting value of 30 meters as minimum user location changes. This setting can be changed to any other values for your preference.
And the following is an example of user location changes.
Note that: those user location annotations will be displayed when the map view is active. If you turn off the screen, put the app in background, the past user locations will not be updated. If you exist the map view, the past user locations will be gone.

Enhancements in Version 1.4.1 (2)
When you use TapToCount-3W app to record an event, activity or your thoughts, you normally make a tap first. This tap will have time and location (if location is enabled) information automatically. Then you swipe into the screen of tap list and finally choose the last tap to add a note.
In this updated version, we have added some enhancements for your convenience to add and access note. First, we allow you to predefine a note before tapping. This is called as "Default tap note". Just swipe on a tap item in tap action view, the first action choice is for "Default tap note".
For a tap item, you can pre-define text as for subsequent tap's note. This default tap note can be anything such a template or some key words. For example, if you travel to a place and you would like to keep using a place name in the subsequent notes, you can enter the name into this "Default tap note". After you make some taps, this place name will be used in taps' note. Then you may go back to those taps to make changes or add more information when you have time. This feature may be very useful when you have no time to add notes for your subsequent taps, for example, hiking mountains out of remote and difficult area. The pre-defined notes may save your valuable time to enter repeated text info and provides basic clue for later editing.
Another enhancement is to quick access to the last tap note view. As described above, to go to the latest tap's note screen, it may takes several operations or steps. A new action choice is added to each tap item in tap action view as shown in above picture. Tap on this action will bring you to the latest tap's note view.

Enhancements in Version 1.4.1 (1)
Let's explain the detail information about some enhancements in the version 1.4.1. In this blog, we discuss first two major groups of enhancements being added to TapToCount-3W app.
Edit Enhancements
The first group is about edit enhancements. In all text fields, a clear button is added to the trail side when there are some text in the field. This button makes clearing all text much easier.
By the way, if you accidentally cleared or changed any text, you can shake your iPhone to bring up options to undo or to redo changes. This is iPhone build-in feature for all editable text fields.
The next welcome feature is make some detectable text responding to taps. For example, the following note area contains a phone-number:
In order to make those detectable texts available for taping, a button is added to the top-right corner. Tap on this button will change the text field back to editable or detectable status.
Location Enhancements
Within the TapToCount-3W app, location information is saved as geo-location coordinates, for example, latitude and longitude numbers. Those numbers may not easy to understand in terms place location names, such as address or place name.
In this update, an interface is added to tap action view to reveal location names. In the tap action view, there is button on left side of the bottom. When the button is in green color, it indicates that location coordinate information is available. Tap on this button will display a popup view like this:
It may take some time to revers geo-coordinates to location name information. The logic and way to get location name information is based iOS geo-location library and service. The information to reverse geo-coordinates to an address or place name requires a huge database as storage. This may only be available on-line. Therefore, in order to get the information, it requires data connection for your iOS device, and it may consume some data transferred.
The way we try to get location information is by trying to get geo-coordinates' address first. Then we compare the address's location to our tap geo-coordinates, if the distance is less than 100 meters, the address will be used. Otherwise, we will try to get location's place name. If it is available, the place name will be used. If none is available, or no data connection, we will show a message of address or place name not available, as in the following case:
As a result, it is recommended to view this information when you have stable Wifi connection or your carrier's data connection.
We hope this new feature will be as a very useful way to provide you location information.

Version 1.4.1 Released
Today we are very happy that Apple has approved our new version 1.4.1 of iOS app TapToCount-3W. Now the new version is available on iOS App Store.
As always, we constantly enhance and update the app with new features and bug fixes. This version is not exception. The following is the release information.
What's New
This update includes the following changes or enhancements:
- In edit mode, all text fields are enhanced with a clear button at the trailing side for easy clearing text.
- For editing notes: add button in the top right corner for viewing or editing note. In view status, all the detectable text such phone number, date time, address, web link, email etc are auto-detectable. For example, a web link will make it easy to jump to the web when you tap on the link.
- New location button is added to tap's location property view so that users can tap on this button to open Map app with this location being displayed.
- In tap action view, two actions are added to each tap item row: one for default tap note, which make it possible to pre-define tap note; and another one is the last tap note, which makes it easy and quick to bring up the last tap note for editing.
- In tap action view, the toolbar button for location will show a view of location address or place name. If the address is accurate to the geo-location coordinates within 100m, the address name is displayed; otherwise, the place name is displayed. This location name is based on iOS reverse coding service to get address or place name. Note: this process requires data/wifi connection since GIS database information is huge.
- Updated copy/move action, only the new copied or moved item's note will be updated with copy/move information. In other words, the copy/move item's parent notes are not changed (the previous version also updates parent’s notes).
- Fixed some bugs: when search condition is set, and there is only one item in the view, editing this item may cause crash if the updated information does not match the search condition.

Version 1.4.0 Released！
We are very pleased to announce that the version 1.4.0 of iOS app TapToCount-3W is released at iOSApp Store. This release is going to introduce an existing new feature: Copy/Move!
There are many occasions when you want to copy or move items such as tap entities, tap items or taps from one place to another place. In this release, the copy/move feature makes it possible. We have made great effort to add this feature as in this major release. Here is the description of the release.
A new enhancement of copy/move items is added to TapToCount-3W app. For example, copy/move tap entities, tap items and/or taps from one place to another or a new place. Here are the steps of how to make a copy or move.
Preparation
In the edit tab of the main screen, first choose an item which can be added to the internal cache, for example, select a tap entity(same for the case of a tap item or a tap). The following are steps.
- ust swipe a row in table view, and tap on the action option of "Copy/Move". The item can also be removed from the cache by swipe on its row, and an option of "Clear Copy/Move" is available if it is in the cache.
- After one or more items(repeat above step) are added to the internal cache, a button with an icon(plus sign and an arrow to the right), indicating copy/move, will be displayed.
- Drag this button over rows in the table view. The row by hovered icon will be marked as a selection if the row could be as a destination for copy/move.
Copy/Move
- Tap on the copy/move button, a popup view will be displayed. In the view, There is an option you can choose: copy or move.
- The popup view also explains where the copy/move can be done, for example, to an existing place (selected row) or to a new place.
- Notice that, when copying or moving items, only unique items can be copied or moved. For example, a tap item can not be copied or moved if a same tap item name exists in the cache or in the destination. For taps, they cannot be copied or moved to a place where the same tap dates exist, or more than one taps in the cache have the same dates.
- When tap entity or tap item is copied, any child content such tap entity's tap items, tap item' taps are also copied. The same applies to a move. As explained above, only unique items are copied or moved. A warning message may be displayed to explain that any duplication exists, and you have a choice to copy or move other unique items.
Here is an example.
Swipe on tap entity "My Life" in tap entity view, an action option is available for choose.
Choose Copy/Move action option and then the item is added to the internal cache. A button with plus icon will be displayed on screen to indicate that items in the cache are available for copy or move.
Drag this button over rows to find a destination for copying or moving.
Tap on the button, a popup view is displayed.
Now, you can choose to copy or move. There are two buttons in the view. One is "Clear Copy/Move", which will clear the cache. The button of Copy or Move will copy or move items. Here is example of copy action:
After the copy is completed, a new tap entity "Copied", in this case, is created and all the tap items and taps for this tap entity are copied to the new tap entity.
This is just a simple example of copy. More than one tap entities, tap items can be added to the internal cache.
Depending on the location where you are, the copy/move action will be different. The content in the cache will be copied or moved to existing(or specified) place or a new place. Here are the general rules to make a copy/move:
- If you are in the view of tap entities, all the unique tap items are copied or moved to an existing tap entity or a new tap entity.
- If you are in the view of tap items, all the unique tap items in the cache are copied or moved to the current view (i.e, the current tap entity) if no selection in the view; or all the unique taps in the cache are copied or moved to the selected tap item or a new tap item.
- If you are in a view of taps, all the unique taps in the cache will be copied or moved there.
Notice that when a copy/move is made, all the information of the cached content are copied or moved over, such as names, notes, date times, and locations. For the content of a note, a copy/move description, explaining where they are originally coming from, is also appended to the note. This will make it easy to identity where they were coming from.
Internally, after a copy or move is made, the data source of taps are marked as copied or moved. Those marks are not visible from the app user interface. They will be included in the export.
With this new feature, it makes the management of taps much easier. It also makes it possible to have the same taps in many different places. We believe this feature will enrich your own tap entities and tap items for future reviews.
As you will find out, this feature is very easy to use. Still, we strongly recommend you to create some test tap entities and tap items to try it out before you make actual copy or move of your content, just to make sure that you get what you expected, don't lose any valuable information you have already collected.

It is important to understand that, some mechanisms to collect personal information, such as location, is based on iOS framework. Collection and Use of Personal Information
Personal information is data that can be used to identify or contact a single person.
You may be asked to provide your personal information anytime you are in contact with DEL Access Services Ltd. You are not required to provide the personal information that we have requested, but, if you chose not to do so, in many cases we will not be able to provide you with our products or services or respond to any queries you may have.
For the time being, our products do not require you to provide your personal information. Still, We should clearly state here that we do not provide any your personal information to any other third party companies or services.
Collection and Use of Location Data
Our products provide some services what may require you to enable iOS location services on your device.
iOS' standard location service is the only way our products to use for location data, and our products will save your location data within the products for your personal use. You may choose not enable location services on your device or for our products. If you choose so, our products will not able to provide location-related services to you. We do not have any other way to collect your location data. We do not collect or own your personal data, including location data. We do not send or share your personal data such as location data to or with any third party companies or services.
DEL Access Services Ltd may update its Privacy Policy from time to time. When we change the policy in a material way, a notice will be posted on our website along with the updated Privacy Policy.
